The Mentor Police Department is committed to reducing and preventing crime in our city. However, we need your help in keeping our city safe and crime free. If you are planning a vacation, follow these simple steps to help keep your property safe from theft:

1. Make sure all doors and windows are locked.
2. Get an automatic timer for your lights.
3. Ask a neighbor to watch your home, cut the grass or shovel the snow, and park in your driveway from time to time.
4. Don’t forget to have mail and newspaper delivery stopped. If it piles up, it’s a sure sign that you’re away from home.
