Mentor Marsh State Nature Preserve
Nature WalksThis 700 plus acre nature preserve is an interpretive nature preserve of The Cleveland Museum of Natural History and the State of Ohio Division of Natural Areas and Preserves. Mentor Marsh was one of the first four natural areas to be incorporated into the state nature preserve system. Birding is especially good during the spring and fall migrations. A series of scenic trails, boardwalks and overlooks have been developed to aid the public in appreciating the wonders of this natural area. It is open daily, year-round, dawn to dusk. Visitors are reminded that wetland areas may at times be muddy and to dress accordingly.

The Carol H. Sweet Nature Center is located at 5185 Corduroy Road and is open to the public on weekends from Noon to 5 p.m., from April through October. Every Sunday at 2 p.m., a guided walk and/or special program is offered. There is no charge and everyone is welcome. Programs for groups are available by appointment at a nominal charge. For more information, call the Nature Center at (440) 257-0777 or click on Natural Areas at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History's website at www.cmnh.org.

In cooperation with the City of Mentor, the Mentor Marsh offers free naturalist-led walks throughout the Mentor Lagoons Nature Preserve. Walks are scheduled for 2 p.m. on the last Sunday of the month from April through October. Please call the Nature Center at (440) 257-0777 to register, or be at the Nature Center by 1:30 p.m. for your impromptu outing.
