The area's total transportation system offers opportunities to cut physical distribution costs. One hundred and fifty miles of the U.S. Interstate Highway System crosses through Mentor, Ohio.

The major East-West Highways are: U.S. 20, Interstate Route 90 and State Routes 2, 84, and 283; Major North-South Highways are: State Routes 44, 306, and 615. Mentor is in the Cleveland Trucking Zone and is served by over 100 common carriers.

Rail service is provided by CSX Transportation, Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad, Norfolk Southern, Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway, and the Ashtabula, Carson & Jefferson Railroad Companies for line-haul railroad freight service.

Railroad passenger service to the area is provided by Amtrak which has stations in Elyria and Cleveland and links Chicago with Boston or Philadelphia or Washington, D.C. by three scheduled routes both eastbound and westbound.
