In 1961, the Great Lakes Mall opened as the world's largest indoor shopping mall. It's no longer the world's largest, but it's still very big with 1.5 million square feet of retail space on 125 acres of land. The mall contains 110 stores and is anchored by JC Penney, Macy's, Sears and Dillards department stores.

Other major shopping centers and national retailers are also represented in Mentor alongside many locally-owned specialty shops. And when it's time for a break, shoppers can pick from any of the 140 restaurants in Mentor situated throughout the city.
